Blue Nose Inn
Ed and Judy Hemmingsen are not new to the innkeeping business. They built the Bluenose Inn, a 97-room luxury hotel in Bar Harbor, Maine, near Acadia National Park. The Bluenose Inn’s Rose Garden Restaurant was one of only 41 AAA-FIVE DIAMOND award recipients in North America.The diamonds reflect Ed and Judy’s love of the innkeeping business.
In 2000, they sold the Bluenose, retired to Belfast, Maine, bought a Main Street building and transformed it into the Belfast Bay Inn & Luxury Suites. The 2-year renovation project produced a beautiful, upscale end result to the two historic mid-1800’s pair of row houses: eight exquisite guest suites in a quiet little city by the ocean. All near some of the best scenic coastline in all of Maine.

Our 8 luxuriously appointed two 2-person guest suites are located in the heart of downtown Belfast on Main Street nestled among many professional art galleries, antique shops, golf courses, museums and restaurants. We’re only steps to our working waterfront at the town pier and our scenic boardwalk across the river channel. Our historic seacoast city is a centrally located between Camden and Bar Harbor, perfectly situated for a day trip through beautiful Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island.
Our romantic boutique hotel offers comfortable lodging and an elegant lobby Gathering Room for both leisure and business travelers, perfect for weekend getaways, wedding guests, retreats, family reunions, birthdays, anniversaries or cocktail parties.

Each of our suites in these 2 restored 1859 Greek Revival row houses are rich in detail with hardwood and stone floors, period moldings, granite countertops, classic original oil paintings, carefully chosen furniture and fine upholstery.
Enjoy fine linens, fluffy robes, a daily newspaper, an in-suite breakfast, an in-suite massage, AC, HDTV, DVD, WiFi, private bathrooms, private parking, an elevator, and relax with a good book in our private garden courtyard. Some suites have harbor views while others feature marble mantled gas fireplaces or wrought iron balconies.
