The Maine Lobster Festival is five days of fun and feasting on The Festival site, at Rockland’s Harbor Park during the first weekend of August, from Wednesday through Sunday.
The Maine Lobster Festival attracts visitors from all over the world! What started as an idea for a local marine festival to revive Midcoast Maine communities has turned into an internationally-recognized celebration of local seafood.
The festival offers a seafood cooking contest, a road race, arts and crafts, live music, a pageant, a big parade, and the beauty of the surrounding seacoast.
As a non-profit organization, the Maine Lobster Festival donates all proceeds back to Midcoast Maine communities each year. Since 1947, the Maine Lobster Festival has given more than $500,000 to Midcoast Maine’s communities. We support local food pantries, high school sports teams, community service groups, local emergency services, and offer college scholarships for graduating high school seniors.
The Maine Lobster Festival is run exclusively by volunteers. More than 1,100 volunteers from the community and “from away” help us year after year on the festival grounds. From our board of directors right down to the wonderful men and women who serve lobster dinners to our visitors, the hard work is repaid in the form of happy visitors and the satisfaction of supporting Maine’s lobster industry.
Rockland is a short drive from Belfast Maine. Belfast is a beautiful and quiet harbor at the mouth of the Passagassawakeag River on Penobscot Bay. Belfast has built a new boardwalk along the edge of the water, leading to a walking bridge that actually traverses the entire bay. There are art galleries, and an Irish pub and you could rent a suite in the most fetching Boutique Hotel in the state of Maine, Belfast Bay Inn.
